Ashar Aziz
Founder, CEO & CTO
Ashar founded FireEye in 2004 and leads both the technical and business strategies of FireEye as CTO and CEO. Since founding FireEye, he has directly run all major departments, including Engineering, Marketing, Product Management, Sales and Finance. He is also the original inventor of the core set of technologies behind FireEye's ground breaking Malware Protection Systems. This work has led to the filing of over 18 patents on various aspects of FireEye's technologies. Ashar has received over 20 patents in the areas of networking, cryptography, network security and data center virtualization for work done prior to FireEye. Before FireEye, Ashar founded Terraspring, a company focused on datacenter automation and virtualization. Terraspring was successfully acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2002, where Ashar then served as CTO of the company's N1 program. Before Terraspring, Ashar spent twelve years at Sun as a distinguished engineer focused on networking and network security. Ashar holds an S.B. (Scientiae Baccalaureus) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, where he received the UC Regents Fellowship.
Bahman Mahbod
Vice President of Engineering & Security Research
As vice president of engineering and security research, Bahman is responsible for FireEye's research and development efforts. With over 20 years of solid leadership and management experience, Bahman has dedicated his career to providing enterprise networking and security solutions working with organizations such as Gemini Mobile Technologies, FaceTime Communications, IBM, Sybase and Vantive. Bahman holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Alex Manea
Vice President of Manufacturing Operations
As vice president of manufacturing operations, Alex is responsible for the end to end customer value chain. This includes order management, business systems and supply chain (materials, manufacturing and logistics). Alex came to FireEye from Cisco where, as director of global manufacturing, he ran the Server Operations Group which included Unified Computing Systems, ODM/OEM and IronPort, with over $3B in revenue, $300M in spend and 60 employees. Prior to that, Alex was director of global supply chain management for IronPort, where he helped build the infrastructure to support over $120M in revenue, which led to the successful $830M acquisition by Cisco. Before that, Alex held various leadership roles at Symantec and HP. Alex holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.A. in Economics from Rice University, Houston, TX.
Brent Remai
Chief Marketing Officer
As chief marketing officer and head of product management, Brent brings over 20 years of marketing and strategy experience from top-tier companies such as McAfee, HP and Palm as well as start-ups. Brent joined FireEye from McAfee, where he was vice president of worldwide marketing for the $1B consumer and SMB businesses. At McAfee, he helped achieve record growth and market share, which ultimately led to the sale of McAfee to Intel for $7.7B. Prior to this role Brent was the vice president of product and field marketing for Palm where he helped spawn the smartphone market and grew revenue to over $1.5B. Brent also held senior management positions at HP and is the recipient of three major global industry marketing awards. He holds an M.B.A. from the Ivey School of Business (Western) and a B. Comm. from the University of Saskatchewan.
Michael Sheridan
Chief Financial Officer
As chief financial officer Mike brings over 25 years of financial, operational and business management experience in several private and public Internet and technology companies. Most recently, Mike was chief financial officer at Mimosa Systems until it was acquired by Iron Mountain in 2010. Prior to Mimosa, Mike held chief financial officer positions at Facebook, IGN Entertainment (acquired by NewsCorp), and SonicWALL. Prior to that, Mike was a finance executive at Genesys Telecommunications (acquired by Alcatel) and NetApp. Additionally, Mike served on the board of directors and audit committee of 3Par Inc. until its acquisition by HP in 2010. Mike received a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Santa Clara University.
Stuart Staniford
Chief Scientist
As chief scientist, Stuart is responsible for fundamental research and core technology design at FireEye. He brings over two decades of experience as both a researcher and practitioner in computer intrusion detection. He has written a number of pioneering research papers and served as president of Invicta Consulting, principal scientist at Nevis Networks, and founder of Silicon Defense, a network intrusion detection company. Stuart holds a Ph.D. in Physics and a M.S. in Computer Science and Physics from the University of California, Davis and a B.S. in Mathematical Physics from the University of Sussex, UK.
Zane M. Taylor
Vice President of Customer Care & IT
Zane is vice president of customer care and IT for FireEye. His over 25 years of experience includes roles as vice president of operations at Citrix Systems and vice president of worldwide operations for NetScaler. Prior to joining NetScaler, Zane was director of operations at Exodus Communications, where he developed core operational procedures and processes in addition to managing several global systems implementations. Zane has also held senior management positions at Akamba, International Networks Services and Cisco.
Jeffrey Williams
Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Business Development
As vice president of worldwide sales and business development, Jeff brings to FireEye a wealth of business experience in operational roles at top-tier start-up companies and leading high tech firms. Jeff has a 20-year track record of successfully managing sales, customer service, and channel programs for leading information technology companies. Most recently, Jeff was global vice president of sales for innovative technologies at Cisco and prior to this managed IronPort sales to hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue leading to being acquired by Cisco for $830M. Before joining IronPort, Jeff was vice president of sales at IntruVert Networks which was acquired by McAfee, vice president of sales of Abeona Networks (a Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia Capital funded company), and GlobalCenter, where he led the sales organization through its $6.5 billion merger with Exodus Communications. He holds a B.S. degree in Marketing from California State University, Chico.
