FireEye Named "Cool Vendor" by Leading Analyst Firm

Vendors selected for the "Cool Vendor report" are innovative, impactful and intriguing

MENLO PARK, Calif.—May 01, 2007—FireEye, Inc., a leader in next generation network security platforms, has been included in the list of "Cool Vendors" in the 2007 "Cool Vendors in Infrastructure Protection for 2007" report by Gartner, Inc.

"We believe being named a Cool Vendor by Gartner validates both our unique use of virtualization and our effective approach in blocking crimeware," said Ashar Aziz, Founder and CEO of FireEye. "Botnets and crimeware have become pervasive in the Internet. Their destructive effects are mounting: causing major brand damage within large corporations who fall victim, stealing customer data, and increasing legal liability. This is just the tip of the iceberg, I'm afraid."

FireEye's unique approach addresses the rapid proliferation of botnets and crimeware—malicious software designed to steal intellectual property, customer information, employee identities and more. Antivirus and intrusion detection technologies fail to detect the majority of botnets and crimeware because they cannot keep up with the flood of malware variants created by a criminal underworld. FireEye's system uses proprietary security virtualization technology to detect and protect against these ever-morphing malware threats as well as future variations and new attack techniques.

About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process

Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services. Gartner disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, with respect to this research, including any warranties of merchantability or fitness of a particular purpose.

Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn't do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.
