FireEye Appoints Industry Veteran Bahman Mahbod To Vice President Of Engineering

Mahbod Brings Over 20 Years of Proven Enterprise Security, Networking and Communications Experience to Company

MENLO PARK, Calif.—November 13, 2007 — FireEye, Inc., the leader in global anti-botnet protection, today announced that it has appointed Bahman Mahbod to vice president of engineering. Mahbod brings a successful track record of building mission critical enterprise applications in the areas of security, networking, and communications. Reporting directly to Ashar Aziz, CEO of FireEye, Mahbod will be responsible for driving the development of the companys anti-botnet protection solutions, which identify and protect against emerging botnets and bot malware attacks.

"Bahman's proven expertise in building world-class enterprise solutions will be invaluable to FireEye and we are very pleased he has joined the company," said Ashar Aziz, CEO of FireEye. "Bahman will play an integral role in delivering FireEye's comprehensive anti-botnet protection solutions to organizations, enabling them to protect their intellectual property, computing resources, and network infrastructure from botnet exploitation and infiltration."

"Botnets have become the vehicle of choice for profiteering cyber criminals. By stringing together hundreds of thousands of compromised PCs into a highly efficient botnet, these hackers can execute any number of malicious attacks from corporate espionage to identity theft to stock pump-and-dump scams and even government infiltrations," said Bahman Mahbod, vice president of engineering, FireEye. "Botnets and stealthy malware require countermeasures of equal force and FireEye's combined local and global approach to anti-botnet protection is nothing short of revolutionary. I look forward to building upon FireEye's success and vision to protect customers from this global pandemic."

With over 20 years of solid leadership and management experience, Bahman Mahbod has helped establish and manage successful engineering organizations in the security, networking and communications areas. Prior to joining FireEye, Mahbod served as senior director of engineering at Gemini Mobile Technologies, a developer of wireless software infrastructure. At Gemini, Mahbod created customized solutions for tier-one carriers spanning across platform infrastructures, applications and content for the mobile telephony market. Before Gemini, Mahbod was vice president of engineering, network operations and client services at secure communications vendor, FaceTime Communications. During his tenure at FaceTime, Mahbod successfully lead the design, development, and sustaining effort of the companys products. Earlier in his career, Mahbod held senior engineering positions at Vantive, Sybase and IBM. Mahbod holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
