Advanced Threat Protection Company Awarded First Place Within Information Security Category for its Malware Protection System

MILPITAS, Calif. - Oct 18, 2012 – FireEye®, Inc., the leader in stopping advanced cyber attacks, today announced that it was awarded the prestigious 2012 Technology Innovation Award from The Wall Street Journal. FireEye received the first place award in the information security category for its FireEye Malware Protection System™ that guards against next-generation cyber attacks, such as zero-day and advanced persistent threat (APT) attacks.

The Wall Street Journal received 536 entries from more than two dozen countries for the 2012 awards. Editors and reporters from The Wall Street Journal reviewed the submissions and forwarded 172 of them to a panel of expert judges from venture capital firms, universities, and companies.

"Advanced cyber attacks are bypassing traditional signature-based security defenses, resulting in enormous exposure of intellectual property and corporate assets. Over 95% of enterprises and government agencies are compromised and most don’t know it," said Ashar Aziz, FireEye founder and CEO. "FireEye is honored to have The Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award validate the FireEye Malware Protection System that detects and blocks next-generation threats for companies around the world."

The FireEye Malware Protection System is the only cross-enterprise, signature-less solution against Web and email threat vectors as well as advanced malware resident on file shares. FireEye offers multi-vector protection and protects across every stage of an attack lifecycle, from exploit to exfiltration. Using its patented Virtual Execution™ (VX) technology platform across its portfolio, the FireEye solution provides state-of-the-art, zero-day protection against next-generation threats that use Web-based exploits, malicious email attachments, malware callbacks, and network file share malware.
