Milpitas, Califorinia - Dec 21, 2010 – FireEye, Inc., the leader in next-generation Malware Protection Systems (MPS), today announced that it has received the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2+ certification from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) for its MPS 2000, 4000, and 7000 Series with Central Management System v.5.0.
Common Criteria is an internationally recognized security certification required by the U.S. and certain other governments worldwide for departments and agencies seeking to procure commercial products. Common Criteria certification also assures businesses that a product has been certified as meeting a standard measure of security, whether it is used internally or in solutions for customers. The FireEye MPS 2000, 4000, and 7000 Series with Central Management System v.5.0 has received certification at the EAL 2+ level of the Common Criteria scheme, as defined by ISO/IEC 15408-2 and ISO/IEC 15408-3, which address product functionality, development environment, documentation, and product testing measures.
"Our FireEye MPS delivers the most dynamic, real-time security against Modern Malware and with this level of security certification we continue to demonstrate our commitment to achieving the highest standards and compliance requirements," said Ashar Aziz, Founder, CEO, and CTO of FireEye. "Customers can rest assured knowing that the quality and efficacy of the FireEye MPS 2000, 4000, and 7000 Series with Central Management System v.5.0 has been independently validated."
The evaluation was performed by Booz Allen Hamilton's Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL). Booz Allen is one of only nine CCTLs approved by the National Information Assurance Partnership that meet U.S. Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme. These labs conduct IT security evaluations for conformance to the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation, International Standard ISO/IEC 15408. Booz Allen has a long history in providing both strategic consulting and evaluation services in common criteria and trust technology, as well as the spectrum of cyber security threats and defenses.
"Booz Allen's Common Criteria Testing Lab has enabled FireEye to assure their clients that their product meets the necessary security standards," said Bill Stewart, Booz Allen vice president and security expert in assurance and resilience. "We are very pleased to be able to help FireEye deliver enduring value to their product consumers."
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA) established the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) to evaluate IT product conformance to the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation, an international standard. The program, officially known as the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) is a partnership between the public and private sectors to help organizations select commercial off-the-shelf information technology (IT) products that meet their security requirements and to help manufacturers of those products gain acceptance in the global marketplace. Twenty-four countries now recognize the Common Criteria as the official third-party evaluation criteria for IT security procedures.
