True Cyber Resilience Goes Beyond Technology

The dictionary defines "resilience" as "an ability to recover from, or adjust easily to, misfortune or change." For most people, this means that if they find a problem, a vendor can simply wipe their systems clean, restore them from a backup, and everything starts over. Voilà! They’ve recovered from a breach.

Except it just doesn’t work like that.

The problem with the scorched-earth approach to resiliency is that no efforts have been taken to address the underlying issues that caused the breach in the first place.

At FireEye, cyber resilience is much more than prevention or detection technology. It’s the ability to prevent, assess, prioritize and mitigate risks. What threats are most dangerous to your business? What kinds of data loss will have the worst effect in terms of costs to the bottom line and the organization’s reputation?

Cyber resiliency means having the answer to these questions and more. It means knowing how to manage processes and costs in a way that keeps your security activities efficient and effective. It means having a continued focus on how to best protect what matters most relentlessly – now, and in the long run.

The Role of Innovation

Innovation is critical to achieving cyber resilience. Today’s threat landscape is constantly evolving, and a company’s cyber security posture must innovate fast enough to effectively combat the techniques of even the most sophisticated cyber attackers.

And technology alone is not enough. We need humans and technology working seamlessly together, in harmony, to address the most pressing cyber security issues.

This requires real-time knowledge of the threat landscape and a security partner who combines technology, threat intelligence and frontline expertise.

To find out more about the relationship between cyber resiliency and innovation, join the FireEye Cyber Resilience Virtual Summit, Oct. 22 to Oct. 24, 2018. Over three days, FireEye experts will share insights and intelligence from our latest breach investigations, and knowledge from our research into the threat landscape.

This virtual summit will deliver:

  • Insights on the latest investigations from the frontlines of cyber security.
  • Tools to gauge organizational readiness for a cyber crisis, as well as the best ways to determine what is needed to protect the company and its employees.
  • "Right-sized" security solutions that meet and evolve with evolving business needs.
