We’re excited to announce that FireEye Email Security came out on top in the ‘Security – Email’ category of the 2018 Tech Innovator Awards run by influential media outlet CRN. This is the latest recognition of our Email Security solution, which also scooped top honors at SC Awards Europe 2018 back in June.
The CRN Tech Innovator Awards take place annually, recognizing “technology vendor offerings that are reshaping the IT channel landscape by increasing worker productivity, reducing cost, and minimizing complexity for solution providers, IT departments, and end users.” The awards have several categories, one of which is focused on cyber security.
Winning in the ‘Security – Email’ category is especially pleasing given the current challenges organizations are facing in this area of security. Our recent Email Threat Report revealed that less than a third (32 percent) of email traffic seen in the first half of 2018 was considered ‘clean’ and actually delivered to an inbox. The report also found that 1 in every 101 emails had malicious intent. When compared to the previous six-month period, the changes in both these numbers depict that the email landscape continues to see an increase in email-based threats.
FireEye Email Security is designed to protect organizations from these constantly evolving attacks. The extensive first-hand experience that FireEye has of dealing with potentially harmful emails is fed into the development of the solution. This expertise is harnessed to create innovative features such as the identification of phishing and impersonation techniques, as well as the usual blocking of malware and suspicious URLs. Another capability of the product that helped secure the Tech Innovator Award is called Advanced URL Defense. This combines analytics and machine learning to offer organizations protection against credential-harvesting and spear-phishing attacks.
An additional key finding of the Email Threat Report was the shift from malware to URL threats within email security. That’s why our FireEye Labs team has worked hard to create an image classification engine, a malware intelligence gathering system and a phishing site detection plug-in. It’s innovative features like this that are well received by our partners and now by CRN too, which is fantastic.
As customers shift to cloud email, partners benefit from having access to our team of experts who have a track record of stopping email-based threats. Partners can expand revenue potential with simplified, interoperable, multi-vector security available from FireEye.
As part of our ongoing mission to combat these attacks, we are offering organizations a free Email Threat Analysis, which evaluates an organization’s threat detection efficacy. The service operates in the cloud, analyzing received Microsoft Office 365 emails to determine if advanced threats are getting past current defenses. It is optimized for the channel with a unique URL being created for each partner to use and FireEye representatives are available to guide customers through the process with the partner involved at every step.
