FireEye and Mandiant Partner to Combat Advanced Targeted Attacks
Partnership strengthens customers’ ability to detect, respond, and contain advanced threats
As part of the alliance FireEye™ and Mandiant® intend to integrate their products in 2012 for comprehensive breach detection and remediation so that threats can be efficiently prioritized based on the risk they pose. This will help provide comprehensive, network-to-endpoint breach detection.
"The first question customers ask when they receive an alert about malware is 'Now what?'" said Dave Merkel, CTO of Mandiant. "By utilizing our respective products as part of an integrated workflow, customers gain visibility into which specific systems have been compromised as a result of the malware, understand the scope of the incident, and are able to rapidly determine the best course of action to contain it."
"Cyber attacks get more sophisticated every day," said Ashar Aziz, FireEye Founder and CEO. "Speed and efficiency in detection and response is key. FireEye's network based capabilities for detecting and blocking advanced targeted attacks, such as the APT, working with Mandiant's ability to detect and scope threats on the endpoint shortens the time for customers to mitigate targeted attacks."
By pairing the FireEye Malware Protection System™ with the host visibility provided by the Mandiant Intelligent Response® appliance, users will be able to rapidly assess threats within their environments, identify the scope of the breach, and accelerate their response time.
Some specific use cases for how the products may be used together include:
- Efficient network-to-endpoint attack mitigation. Combining FireEye’s signature-less network detection capabilities with Mandiant’s visibility on the host enables customers to detect advanced malware, accelerate incident response, and prioritize the threat they pose.
- Accelerated response time. This partnership enables customers to shorten response time to advanced threats and improve their ability to address the full extent of attacks the two solutions detect.
- Visibility into evidence of compromise. End users will be able to correlate FireEye malware analysis with Mandiant endpoint inspection to bring together all evidence of compromise including stolen user credentials and staging sites being used to steal data.
In addition to supporting integrated use cases the companies will train their sales and engineering teams, and channel partners on how to use their respective products.
About FireEye, Inc.
FireEye is the leader in stopping advanced targeted attacks that use advanced malware, zero-day exploits, and APT tactics. The FireEye solutions supplement traditional and next generation firewalls, IPS, anti-virus and gateways, which cannot stop advanced threats, leaving security holes in networks. FireEye offers the industry’s only solution that detects and blocks attacks across both Web and email threat vectors as well as latent malware resident on file shares. It addresses all stages of an attack lifecycle with a signature-less engine utilizing stateful attack analysis to detect zero-day threats.
